Attendance Officer Location: Chesterfield, S41 Salary: £100-£110 per day Contract Type: Long term - Permanent Start Date: As soon as possible About the Role Long Term Futures are looking for a committed and detail focused attendance officer to join a partnered alternative provision school in Chesterfield, S41. The school supports children and young people aged 5-16 who require a nurturing and adaptable learning environment, often due to challenges accessing mainstream education. This is a key role in promoting and maintaining high levels of attendance and punctuality, supporting vulnerable learners. You will be a vital part of the pastoral team, having a direct impact on all pupils' progress and engagement. Main Duties and Responsibilities Monitor and record daily attendance, identifying patterns and causes of absence. Follow up promptly on all unexplained absences through calls, emails, and home visits where necessary. Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to resolve attendance concerns. Produce reports and data summaries for internal use and external agencies. Support the implementation of attendance improvement strategies across all school sites. Promote good attendance through communication and engagement with students and families. Ensure systems and records comply with statutory requirements and school policy. Contribute to multi-agency meetings and share relevant attendance insights. Ideal Candidate Essential: GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths. Strong IT skills, including Excel and school data systems (e.g., SIMS, Arbor). Excellent organisational and communication skills. Proven ability to work independently and manage competing priorities. Understanding of safeguarding procedures and confidentiality. Desirable: Previous experience working in a school or with children and families.
