About the Opportunity
The Product Processing Technologist will be responsible for managing and leading the R&D UHT Pilot Plant at our Meadow Fresh site based in Christchurch. This role focuses on developing and optimising processing methods to enhance the functionality and stability of dairy products, aligning with specified business objectives.
* Pilot Plant Management: Lead, manage and operate the R&D UHT Pilot Plant (PP), ensuring its operations align with project goals and deliverables. Ensure preventative maintenance, GMP programs, calibrations, and HACCP programs are in place and aligned with Site Engineering and Quality teams.
* Process Development: Apply scientific and engineering principles to develop, enhance, or evaluate new processes and technologies, including powder hydration, homogenisation, UHT processing, and membrane technology.
* Collaboration for Scale-Up: Work with Product Development Technologists and site engineering teams to scale up PP trial results to factory-level trials, meeting both production and consumer requirements.
* Project Management: Oversee multiple processing-focused projects, including developing briefs, plans, and timelines, and ensuring on-time delivery of agreed outcomes with no technical failures.
* Strategic Integration: Develop a clear, processing-driven technical strategy to integrate into product innovation pipelines, supporting long-term business goals.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced Processing Engineering Technologist with a background in Chemical Engineering/Food Engineering/Processing Engineering, preferably with experience in the dairy industry.
Specifically, the skillsets and experience we're looking for include:
* Dairy UHT Pilot Plant Management: Extensive experience in managing, leading, and hands-on operation of the UHT Pilot Plant.
* Processing Innovation: Expertise in driving innovation and development within UHT Pilot Plant and manufacturing environments.
* Project Management: Proven ability to plan, execute, and manage processing-focused projects effectively.
* Analytical and Problem-Solving: Exceptional skills in analyzing challenges and implementing practical solutions.
* Product Formulation Expertise: Good understanding of product formulation and various dairy categories.
