About this position:
My Client is currently looking for an Experienced Cabling Design Engineer to join the team in order to work collaboratively on projects to deliver the country's Net Zero targets. This is a contract position.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate cabling designs into broader project frameworks.
2. Undertake cable system design, studies, and calculations to relevant BSEN/IEC/National Grid/DNO/ENA C55/5 standards and practices.
3. Provide input into cable routing feasibility and detailed design studies, considering local planning, traffic management, environmental, and client requirements while developing the most economical cable system design.
4. Lead work in your area, delivering on time and to a high degree of accuracy in line with the Clients' quality standards, undertaking self-checks and peer checks where necessary.
5. Support your area in generating sales leads, undertaking sales origination, and passing sales-related information to senior partners and business development managers (BDMs), acting as the sales single point of contact (PoC) for your team/discipline when appointed by the team lead.
6. Assist Design Preconstruction Managers & Senior Partners with the selection, negotiation, development, management, and execution of contracts in your area.
7. Use project management techniques to manage resources, budgets, and programmes, accurately estimating work, conducting stakeholder management (internal & external), and acting as quality lead in your area.
8. Stay up to date with industry standards and practices, maintaining a high level of independence to complete engineering design work while improving your technical knowledge base.
9. Contribute to the ongoing development of company standard quality systems to ensure compliance with current industry standards and best practices.
Experience Required:
1. Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferable).
2. Chartered Engineer (or working towards).
3. Sound understanding of cable system design.
4. Experience in the industry relevant to the key duties and responsibilities mentioned.
5. Good understanding of CDM 2015 Regulations & ESQCR.
6. Full UK Driving License.
7. 11kV up to 400kV detailed design experience.
8. Knowledge of AutoCAD is essential.
9. Familiarity with cable system design software such as CRATER & CYMCAP.
10. Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
11. CSCS (or similar - SHEA Power) Card Holder.
12. Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar).
