SEND Support Assistants Wanted – North Tyneside Primary Schools

We’re looking for dedicated SEND Support Assistants to work in primary schools across North Tyneside. These full-time, term-time only roles are both rewarding and challenging – supporting children with complex needs, many of whom struggle with emotional regulation, speech and language difficulties, and may sometimes display physical or verbal outbursts when overwhelmed.
This is a role for someone who:
Stays calm and consistent, even under pressure
Can set boundaries with kindness and confidence
Understands that behaviour is communication
Is patient and creative in helping children develop language and communication skills
Feels comfortable supporting children 1:1 and in small groups
Is committed to being a steady, positive presence – every day
The following backgrounds and experience are highly valued:
Psychology, childhood studies, or education graduates
Experienced care workers or support workers
Those with a background in residential care, youth work, or social work
Individuals with experience supporting people with autism, ADHD, or speech and language needs
People with personal or voluntary experience supporting individuals with SEND
You’ll work closely with school staff, SENCOs, and external specialists to ensure each child receives the tailored support they need to thrive.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
