About the school:
Located in Chesterfield, my client is a large special school catering to pupils with various disabilities and special educational needs, including: moderate to profound learning difficulties, sensory impairments, autistic spectrum disorders, speech and language disorders, and behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties. The school serves children from early years up to 16 years, with 149 pupils on site, all with educational health care plans. Class sizes range from 6 to 12 pupils.
About the Role:
As a PMLD Learning Support Assistant, you will support students with SEND and SEMH needs who may find it challenging or be reluctant to engage in education. Your role includes building rapport and creating positive relationships to influence students to regulate their behaviour. Initially, this position is temporary, but there may be opportunities for a permanent role.
What we need from you:
If you have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or are passionate about improving outcomes for young people, this role is for you. You should be outgoing and confident in working with students with behavioural difficulties and special needs. It is desirable (though not essential) to have a qualification in Team Teach and experience working with young people with SEMH needs, ASC, or ADHD.
