The Role
We're looking for a Central Freight Manager to join our team. In this role you'll be responsible for the appointment, co-ordination and monitoring of Freight Services across SEWS-E. Tasks will consist of, but not be limited to:
* Strategy development - develop, implement and maintain a company-wide strategy for freight and customs operations, considering best industry practices and future technologies.
* Budget oversight - generate, monitor and report against the company-wide freight budget, including actions to correct performance.
* Performance reporting - design, implement and report on performance metrics for freight services used by SEWS-E.
* Tariff management - ensure freight tariffs are maintained and communicated to business teams and purchasing, supporting quotation requests.
* Request for Quotation co-ordination - manage and negotiate all freight RFQs with support from the Central Logistics Team.
* System implementation - oversee the implementation and future management of the TMS and other freight systems.
* Monthly reporting - provide timely monthly reports on key events and performance related to the Company's freight activities.
* Contract reviews - conduct periodic contract reviews in line with requirements.
* LCR support - provide central support for the completion of LCRs, investigate root causes with freight providers, and summarise monthly outcomes.
* Relationship management - develop relationships with senior members of each freight service provider to ensure an effective escalation process.
Skills & Qualifications
We're looking for an individual who has excellent analytical and data-processing skills. Strong organisational skills are required in this role, as well as the ability to communicate at a high level. Negotiation skills and problem-solving techniques are a must. Good experience with Microsoft Office suite of packages is required.
We're looking for someone with extensive experience of working within a similar freight role, who has a proven track record of managing a team in a pressurised environment.
Travel will be required in this role, so a full UK driving licence is essential. You'll also need the ability, flexibility (and legal right!) to travel across the UK and overseas when needed.
