Job summary The gastrointestinal services division at University College Hospital is one of the largest in the UK, comprising clinical and academic consultant physicians working within the subspecialty areas of upper GI/laser medicine, HPB medicine, lower GI/IBD, nutrition, and clinical physiology. The department is based in University College Hospital and has a state-of-the-art 8 room endoscopy suite.The Division is seeking to appoint a 10 PA upper GI research fellow for on a 12 month contract. 40% of the post will be providing direct clinical care to patients and 60% of the post will be research projects. There are a growing number of high-quality research projects already underway, with other projects in development and planning that the candidate will contribute to. The successful applicant will be involved in coordination, recruitment and data analysis of a number of multi-centre trials within these respective specialties. Attendance and presentation of data at national and international meetings will be required. Main duties of the job The main focus of the 1-year fellowship will be to gain hands on training and experience in interventional upper and lower GI endoscopy. There will also be an expectation that the successful candidate will undertake two general endoscopy lists and two outpatient's clinics each week. There will also be rotating exposure to the on-call G.I bleed rota.
