The Role As a Network Consultant for Xperience, you will report to our Head of Projects and work closely with technical architects and other colleagues across the organisation. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and troubleshooting solutions for our customers, with a focus on networking technologies. You will have a strong background in networking technologies, ideally including Cisco, HPe, Sophos and Ubiquiti. Other vendors are utilised and supported, such as Meraki. Solutions can be delivered onsite, remote or a combination of both. The work is diverse and challenging; no two days are the same. Responsibilities •Implement solutions for customers whether on-premise, private or public cloud •Work with the Network Ops team on the Xperience Cloud platform’s networking; from configuration to monitoring and through to troubleshooting •Troubleshoot issues, deploy equipment and assist other team members with project tasks either remotely or on a customer’s site •Act as a point of escalation for technical queries from other teams within the business •Design network elements of a solution; including switching, routing, wireless and security •Maintain technical documentation, including IP schemas and handbooks •Attend customer meetings as required •Undertake training and certification in key technical areas Essential: •Strong and proven technical background; troubleshooting problems and working on solutions to complex problems •Strong communicator; able to engage with technical and non-technical personnel effectively. Keeping all parties up to date without being requested to •CCNP qualification or equivalent experience •Strong troubleshooting skills for network related issues •Able to utilise wireshark (or similar tools) to analyse network traffic •Creation and troubleshooting of site-to-site VPNs •Switching – VLAN creation, CDP usage, ether-channel and spanning tree •Understanding of WAN technologies – MPLS, VPLS and leased lines •Ability to configure routers and firewalls for use as the gateway, including configuring WAN connectivity, VPNs and access lists •Wireless technologies experience – Meraki, Cisco, Aruba/HPe, Ubiquiti •Excellent attention to detail and quality •Proven ability to follow a design and perform quality assurance against the design •Experience of creating solution designs for networks •Experience of working in an environment that utilises strict change control procedures •Full driving licence that allows you to drive in the UK and a willingness to travel to client sites for business use as required for the proper performance of the role •Valid Right to Work in the UK (We do not currently hold a visa sponsorship licence) Desirable: •Experience of working with voice over IP phone systems •Knowledge and experience of dynamic routing protocols, ideally OSPF and/or BGP •Experience of core Microsoft technologies, such as Exchange, SQL and Active Directory •Azure VPN gateway configuration and troubleshooting •Sophos XG configuration Competencies required for role: Teamwork and Collaboration Shares knowledge and works across departments and locations, working co-operatively and supportively with colleagues.
