Senior Assistant Technical Officer (Pharmacy and Homecare)
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual with an interest in healthcare science to support our Pharmacy and Homecare Medicine teams.
This hybrid post offers a dynamic and varied workload. The successful candidate will spend a proportion of their working hours supporting the day to day running of the Pharmacy Department at Prince Philip Hospital. The post holder will also work within the Homecare Medicines team supporting the management of prescriptions for patients receiving their medications via the homecare route.
The Pharmacy team is forward thinking and continually strives to improve the delivery of patient focused pharmaceutical care and optimise the use of medicines within the Health Board.
The provision of medication via the homecare route is a growing service, which provides benefits to patients and clinicians alike. We are seeking an individual who is motivated to deliver a high quality service and to support its evolution.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work within a team of Senior Technical Officers, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists and Administrative Assistants in providing a wide range of Pharmaceutical Services within the hospital setting. You will be given specific training to help develop your skills.
To perform a variety of tasks to support the pharmacy teams within the Health Board. Roles may include working in the following areas: Distribution, Procurement, Dispensary, and Ward Based Services.
To assist in the management of homecare prescriptions, resolve queries, ensure timely processing of orders and invoices and maintain accurate records.
The successful candidate will be involved in working on a weekend and Bank Holiday Rota.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Good standard of secondary education to include 5 GCSE's at C or equivalent
* Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.
* 5 GCSE's at C or above, including Maths, English and Science
* NVQ 2 Qualification in Pharmacy Community or Hospital.
* Knowledge of drug names
* Welsh Speaker (Level 1)
Experience
* Basic IT experience
* Experience in hospital or retail community pharmacy.
* Customer care experience
* Stock maintenance experience
Language Skills
* Welsh Speaker (Level 1)

£23,159 to £24,701 a year (pro rata if part time)
