Main duties of the job
As a GMC registered Consultant, you'll play a vital role in a progressive and forward-thinking East Kent Critical Care team. East Kent Critical Care operates across three units: Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate (9 beds), and the Kent and Canterbury Hospital (8 beds) and the William Harvey Hospital (expanding to 24 beds from Spring 2022). This post, including on-call commitments, is based at the QEQM Hospital, although the successful candidate will be expected to work some sessions at the Kent and Canterbury Critical Care unit as required. Our Critical Care team boasts some exciting special interests across our three units. There's a strong focus on critical care ultrasonography, with state-of-the-art equipment supporting focused echocardiography and bedside ultrasonography. Our consultants include accredited CUSIC and FICE mentors, plus two FICE supervisors. We have high spec ultrasound equipment available on all units, and have recently successfully procured a brand-new state of the art echo machine as well as a cutting-edge echo and ultrasound training mannequin with training modules for transthoracic and transoesophageal echo as well as lung and abdominal ultrasound (including a COVID lung ultrasound module).

Person specification
* Qualifications And Training
o Full GMC Registration
o CCT Specialist Registration (or will obtain within 6 months of interview date) in intensive care medicine and one of anaesthetics, emergency medicine or acute medicine or CESR equivalent
o Minimum of English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent), ILETS, or graduate of a UK Medical School
* Desirable criteria
o FFICM, EDIC, FCEM, MRCP, FRCA
o Formal teaching or instructing qualification
o Good clinical practice training
* Clinical governance
o Experience of morbidity and mortality review Evidence of audit of own practice
* Skills And Experience
o Wide experience caring for critically ill adults & children
o Wide experience of one of: anaesthesia, emergency or acute medicine
o Previous NHS experience Experience of teaching Audit participation
