JOB TITLE: Senior Manufacturing Engineer
HOURS: Full time/perm - 38 hours per week (Mon – Thurs: 8hrs/ Fri: 6 hrs – finish early)
SALARY: £65,000 - £80,000 Per Year
LOCATION: Hingham, Norfolk (NR9) – Office based role
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced manufacturing engineer to join our team in Hingham, Norfolk. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing engineering, preferably within the aerospace or automotive industry.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, and continuously improving commercial aerospace products and manufacturing assembly processes. They will apply their expertise to optimize safety, performance, efficiency, yield, and cost using Lean Sigma and APQP methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure production readiness of new product development programs by leading readiness reviews and planning activities.
* Develop and implement manufacturing engineering requirements, including DFM/A, APQP, and project execution throughout NPD/I Process.
* Design, manufacture, and introduce tooling and assembly aids.
* Provide expertise and support in driving continuous improvement to optimize product and process performance using Lean Sigma and APQP methodologies.
* Specify new equipment, processes, and methods for investment or incorporation in line with business objectives.
* Optimize process and performance to achieve manufacturing cost reductions and quality improvements.
* Reduce operational risk using structured tools and techniques.
* Improve production operations through system improvements and create a lean manufacturing culture.
* Lead process performance and development improvement projects using DMAIC approach.
* Write tasks, using interlocked and error-proofing process control systems.
Requirements
* Experience working in a highly regulated industry such as Automotive / Aerospace OEM or First Tier supplier or equivalent industries as a Manufacturing / Production engineer.
* Experience of working within a team to meet set deliverables within a manufacturing / production department.
* Practical working knowledge in the application and implementation of lean manufacturing.
* Experienced in the facilitation and delivery of industrial risk management tools i.e APQP, FMEA, Control plans etc.
* Demonstrable experience of influencing product realization using a structured approach to DFM/A/C.
* Experienced in conducting PPR's and the effective communication/presentation of results and actions in project Gate reviews.
* Practical working knowledge of Robotics and Automation including operational programming.
* Project/Program Management Experience.
* Ability to evaluate, develop, and improve existing production processes.
* Demonstrable experience in communicating to audiences of different levels through various channels in a concise manner.
* High level of personal accountability and a strong bias for action.
* Technical experience in Manufacturing Engineering, with a professional qualification (university degree) and/or background in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical).
* Or a relevant (IMechE) or (IET) qualification/Apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training.
