The purpose of the Outpatient Nurse role is to clinically and operationally support the outpatient department at Healthshare Clinic West London to promote and ensure excellent patient care. The postholder takes responsibility for the role under the direction of the Outpatient Lead Nurse.

The post holder is responsible for the day-to-day nursing needs of the department, ensuring the efficient and effective use of all resources in order to deliver high quality, safe, and effective patient care in an environment of continuous improvement.
Main duties of the job
This is a clinical role and the post holder will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and evidence-based clinical care, including phlebotomy and cannulation, assisting consultants with minor operations and procedures, wound management, injections, chaperoning, etc.
The post holder will be expected to regularly assess and deliver direct patient care in order to maintain professional competence, authority, and credibility. To set and maintain high standards of care and be accountable for auditing and monitoring of care. To work flexibly in order to meet the needs of the service.
Job responsibilities
The Riverside Clinic Outpatient Department consists of seven outpatient consulting rooms, one minor operations room, and one phlebotomy room. The post holder is responsible for the day-to-day nursing needs of the department, ensuring the efficient and effective use of all resources in order to deliver high quality, safe, and effective patient care in an environment of continuous improvement.
Duties and responsibilities include:

4. To assist on admissions from Outpatients Department to the ward.

6. To assist Outpatient Lead with stock checks and orders.
7. To work with all members of the multi-professional team to develop services to ensure the effective provision of all aspects of clinical care are maintained at a high standard.
8. To contribute to and influence the total patient experience and journey through collaborative working and effective communications with all members of the multi-disciplinary team throughout the hospital.
9. To act as a role model in clinical practice.
10. To adhere at all times to uniform and appearance policy.

15. To adhere at all times to the NMC Code of Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour for Nurses and Midwives (2005).
16. Ensuring that all patients have their needs assessed, that care plans are developed to meet these needs and are delivered in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
17. Ensure an ongoing welcoming, caring, and safe environment is provided for the patients and their families.
18. To be a competent practitioner delivering all aspects of care relative to their patient group leading innovation and demonstrating clinical expertise.
19. To ensure approved manual handling techniques in the delivery of safe patient care using procedures taught by the manual handling team, including the safe use of mechanical and non-mechanical manual handling aids.
20. To monitor and assist in the review of clinical standards and practice through collection of data within their clinical area, providing essential information in a timely manner.
Person Specification
Skills
* Phlebotomy and cannulation.
* Physical assessment skills, e.g., 12 lead ECG taking, good head-to-toe assessment skills including respiratory & circulatory assessment.
* Surgical wound management; competent in removal of all types of sutures, clips, and aseptic dressings.
* Competent in IV, IM, and SC medication administration.
* Excellent interpersonal and written & verbal communication skills.
* Excellent clinical documentation skills.
* Ability to work unsupervised and manage own workload.
* Ability to undertake teaching of staff and patients.

* Proven experience in surgical wound management.
* Experience in pre-operative assessment and knowledge of day-case surgery.
