The Opportunity:

The Trial Visit Program is part of Multnomah County Community Mental Health Program Safety Net and serves adults civilly committed in Multnomah County who are placed on a Trial Visit as a condition of their return to a community placement. The purpose of this position is to facilitate the least restrictive level of care for individuals committed under Oregon Revised Statute 426 as well as providing for the safety of the community. This position will help lead staff and functions in the Trial Visit Program.
As the Trial Visit Monitor – Mental Health Consultant (MHC), other duties will include:
1. Referrals and Monitoring: Evaluate referrals from local acute care hospitals, the state hospital, and other commitment sites. Meet in person with outpatient providers and clients to develop services and supports for the client on a Trial Visit. Monitor progress of Trial Visit plan by meeting with client and providers in person. Accurately document in file notes all significant activities affecting Trial Visit clients.
2. Technical Consultant: Represents the courts’ interests relevant to committed clients. Court appearances for testimony for revocations of trial visit, recertification of civil commitment or other legal issues as required.
3. Community Liaison: Provide program education, consultation and community advocacy on behalf of the client population. Maintain communication, coordination and continuity between providers, agencies and clients.
This position will spend approximately 65% of the time working in the community and the other 35% of the time teleworking.
As a newly hired Trial Visit Monitor – MHC, you will receive a one-time New Hire Recruitment and Retention Incentive payment of $1,500 on your first paycheck. The incentive will be prorated based on the position’s FTE status.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED):
Education/Certification: Must meet the standards of Qualified Mental Health Professional – (QMHP – R) with the Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO). QMHP – R within 30 days of hire, current QMHP – R, and/or licensed Board of Oregon (LPC, LCSW, PHD,etc)
Graduate degree in psychology, social work, or counseling.
Other: Must be able to be Certified as a Mental Health Investigator within 90 days of hiring. This position requires a background investigation, which may include being fingerprinted. Valid Driver’s License required.
Preferred Qualifications/Transferable Skills: You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify. However, we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates:
1. Licensed Board of Oregon (LPC, LCSW, PhD,etc) (preferred).
2. Knowledge of challenges and barriers faced by those with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI).
3. Ability to collaborate and build relationships to achieve positive work outcomes.
