Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Division A Governance team for an experienced leader to take on the role of Divisional Governance Manager.
Specific to this role is the suitability for agile working which is a mixture of on-site and remote working. In addition, we are open to discussing flexibility in the hours that you work. Job responsibilities
Utilising your significant experience and expertise in governance and risk, you will lead on driving forward the governance agenda within the division, working in collaboration with the clinical teams to support them in delivering world-class care to all of our patients. You will be highly motivated, able to work as an individual and as part of a team, passionate about improving patient care, and able to utilise complex and sensitive information from incidents, risks and complaints to drive change.
Division A encompasses a vast number of diverse services including Critical Care, Ophthalmology, Surgery and Theatres and Anaesthetics. Sitting in the centre of this is the governance team who support these services to self-regulate the care and treatment provided. We are a small team of 6 who are eager to embrace the Trust values and deliver excellence in healthcare.
In addition to working within this large division, we regularly interlink with the wider Trust and corporate functions and build relationships with staff at all levels and professions. Based out of Southampton General Hospital we work Monday to Friday, usually within core working hours, but with some flexibility to work from home.

Qualifications / training required
* First Degree level or equivalent level of relevant experience
* Teaching qualification
Previous or relevant experience necessary
* Experience working at a senior level within acute NHS setting
* Practical experience in at least one area of clinical governance (eg clinical risk management, complaints, clinical effectiveness, patient involvement training and development)
* Experience of managing projects, deadlines and fluctuating workloads
* Experience of developing and delivering training programmes
* Clinical or operational management background
Aptitudes and skills required
* Proficient use of Microsoft Office software
* Excellent negotiation skills to ensure challenging groups work together
* Confident and assertive, able to influence
* Able to develop trusted relationships with senior clinicians and operational managers
