Job Title: Digital Twin Systems Engineer
Location: Crawley
This is a key role which will support the concept and design activities for a nascent product line in Thales Training and Simulation, to provide Digital Twins for Test and Evaluation.
As Digital ITEA Concepts Engineer you will bring expertise in the Integration, Test, Evaluation & Acceptance of systems, and will support the Digital Twin team in designing a suitable architecture and selecting appropriate components to fulfil the vision/direction identified by the business development community.
This role is being created to support the creation of a new Test and Evaluation Capability in Environmental Digital Twins within the “Simulation Capabilities” Product line within TTS BL. You’ll be responsible for identifying the methods, tools and technologies which support the adoption of modelling, simulation and digital twins to empower IVVQ in Thales and for our customers.
Additionally you’ll be responsible for designing, developing and qualifying the components that make up the nascent capability, working within a multi skilled Innovation team including Digital Architects, Head of Digital, Digital BD & Sales and the wider Business Line (BL) Product Line Team.
The primary responsibility of the role will be required to enable TTS to achieve its ambitions with regard to Digital Twin concepts, through:
* Design and developing the solution components of digital twin solutions SFRD, CFRD and customer projects, exploiting previous research and development in these areas
* Assist the architect in maintaining a set of reference Digital Twin concept designs to improve the deliverability of bids within the shortened timescales of CFRD opportunities
* Implement Make/Team/Buy methodologies for the selection of architectural building blocks (internal or external/COTS) within the Simulation Capabilities Product Line
* Liaise with the business line Product Line Managers for “Simulation Capabilities” to ensure UK domain concepts and aspirations are coherent and influence with wider BL strategic objectives
* Act as a key contributor of the ‘Strategy to Product’ performance initiative as sponsored by the wider business line
Skills & Experience:
* Ideally a graduate with a Master’s degree of an Engineering School (Electronics, Aeronautical/Space Engineering, Computer Science)
* Proven experience in Software and/or Hardware, Systems Engineering and IVVQ activities
* Opportunity to strengthen your expertise in one of the following areas: conception, requirement management, development, test, integration or validation
