Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to join our team within the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) sector. The first project will be either civils or electrically biased, with a focus on substation works. The successful candidate will have prior substation experience or transferable knowledge from similar projects, and must be a National Grid Competent Person. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and safety-conscious individual to lead site activities, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards. The role requires flexibility to travel to future projects across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Supervision: Lead and supervise on-site activities, ensuring that work is carried out in compliance with project specifications, health and safety regulations, and quality standards.
Team Coordination: Manage and coordinate site teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols on-site, including overseeing risk assessments, method statements, and compliance with health and safety legislation (e.g., HSG47).
National Grid Competency: Act as a National Grid Competent Person, ensuring all works are completed in line with National Grid standards and requirements.
Temporary Works: Ensure that all temporary works are managed in accordance with regulations and that certifications are up to date.
Substation Experience: Oversee substation-related tasks, ensuring electrical and civils works are executed correctly, safely, and efficiently.
Quality Control: Monitor the quality of work carried out on-site, ensuring all activities meet the required standards and specifications.
Progress Monitoring: Track and report on project progress, providing regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.
Resource Management: Ensure efficient use of resources, including labour, materials, and equipment, to maintain project timelines and budgets.
Training and Development: Support and mentor site staff, ensuring they are properly trained, competent, and aware of their responsibilities.
Problem-Solving: Quickly address any issues or challenges that arise on-site to minimize delays and ensure the smooth continuation of the project.
Key Requirements:

Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Site Supervisor in the Transmission & Distribution industry, with substation experience or transferable knowledge from similar projects.

National Grid Competent Person: Must be a National Grid Competent Person with the ability to manage and oversee work in line with National Grid’s standards and safety regulations.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of both electrical and civils works within the T&D sector, particularly substation construction and maintenance.

Health & Safety Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations, practices, and procedures, with a strong emphasis on compliance.

Problem-Solving: Ability to identify problems on-site and implement effective solutions quickly to keep the project on track.

Leadership: Proven ability to manage and supervise teams, ensuring high performance and a safe working environment.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to liaise with site teams, contractors, and senior management effectively.

Travel Flexibility: Willingness and ability to travel to project sites across the UK as required.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

Substation Experience: Additional experience or certifications related to substation construction, commissioning, and maintenance would be an advantage.

Engineering Qualifications: Degree or diploma in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Electrical or Civil Engineering) would be beneficial, but not essential.

Project Management Skills: Familiarity with project scheduling, resource management, and cost control processes.

Additional Safety Certifications: Any additional safety-related certifications or qualifications would be advantageous.
