The Project Engineer is responsible for delivering fit-for-purpose engineering solutions across various projects, from concept design to commissioning, and providing technical engineering support for more complex initiatives. This role ensures the application of design authority standards, configuration control, and alignment with stakeholder requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:

Project Requirements Identification:
* Define and document project functional requirements and understand stakeholder needs.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to establish project goals and milestones.

Project Planning and Strategy:
* Contribute to the development of Project Execution Plans, including strategies for design, safety case, and commissioning.
* Support the project optioneering process to ensure the best solutions are considered and selected.
3.
Design Development and Management:
* Lead the development of concept designs, ensuring solutions are fit-for-purpose and aligned with project goals.
* Produce and/or approve technical specifications and manage detailed design activities according to design authority standards.
* Prepare and manage modification proposals and act as the Nominated Responsible Engineer when appointed.

Contractor Management and Technical Oversight:
* Assess and approve contractors’ work instructions, method statements, and risk assessments.
* Provide technical oversight during construction and deconstruction activities to ensure adherence to the design intent.
* Review and approve as-built drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
5.
Commissioning and Handover:
* Specify and provide technical oversight for commissioning and/or decommissioning activities.
* Ensure seamless handover to operational teams by verifying that all drawings, instructions, and training materials are provided.

Stakeholder and Lifecycle Collaboration:
* Maintain close communication with system engineers, clients, designers, and subject matter experts to ensure effective and efficient project delivery.
* Oversee configuration control on-site throughout the project lifecycle to ensure project consistency and alignment.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Engineering Discipline Expertise: Practiced experience in Mechanical, Electrical, or EC&I engineering within an industrial plant setting.
* Project Engineering in Regulated Industries: Demonstrated experience in nuclear or conventional project engineering, ideally within highly regulated sectors.
* Standards and Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of relevant engineering standards, both company-specific and national.
* Communication Skills: Proficient in collaborating with clients, designers, and subject matter experts to foster clear, solution-oriented communication.
* UK-based Experience: 18-24 months of experience in a UK-based project engineering role.
Desirable Skills:
* Safety and Risk Assessment: Knowledge of safety rules and risk assessment methodologies applicable to highly regulated industries.
* Regulatory and Quality Systems: Familiarity with Site Licence requirements and Quality Management Systems.
* Construction (Design and Management) Regulations: Working knowledge of CDM Designer responsibilities.
* Contract and Project Management: Experience in contract management and project delivery processes
