Hours: Working week to be discussed. Fixed term. 37 hours a week
Duration: 2 years from Monday, 1 September.
Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
* As a Medical Engineering Apprentice at Leeds Teaching Hospitals you can expect to work in many different Medical Engineering disciplines across the LTH sites.
* Some of the areas you will work in are Clinical Engineering, Renal Engineering, Imaging Engineering, Radiation Engineering and Rehabilitation Engineering.
* You will develop a broad range of skills which will prepare you for a successful career in your chosen area of Medical Physics & Engineering.
* Alongside your practical training you will undertake a work-based Level 4 qualification in Healthcare Science Apprenticeship training programme specialising in Medical Engineering.

Healthcare science associate (level 4) - Equal to higher national certificate (HNC)
Your training plan
Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3. A British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL.

* Level 4 Diploma in Healthcare Science (603/2313/9)

* Must attend Dudley College 5 days per year for training
* Remaining training to be taken in the workplace
