We are looking for enthusiastic, efficient and motivated Health Care Assistants to join our team on Ward 23.
There are 2 posts available on a shift rotation basis.
The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering a range of designated tasks/duties of a clinical and non-clinical nature. You will ensure the highest standards of care are delivered to every patient.
The role of the Health Care Assistant is imperative to the health and well-being of our patients, as you will support them with their personal hygiene, toileting, mobility and nutritional needs.
The completion of the Care Certificate is desirable.
The post holder will work under the supervision of the NMC registrant at all times, who holds delegated accountability for the work designated.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be working under the direct supervision of an NMC registrant. In addition to the above and by completing locally agreed competencies, supported by training and education to gain theoretical underpinning knowledge to undertake the following:
* Basic clinical observations
* Blood glucose readings
* Urinalysis testing
* Lying and Standing Blood pressure monitoring
* Bladder scanning
* Removal of sutures
* Venepuncture
* Cannulation
* ECG monitoring

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Care Certificate.
* Completion of a clinical skills competency-based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3, or willingness to undertake.
* GCSE Maths & English or qualified to equivalent Functional skills level 2 in Maths & English, or willingness to undertake.
Experience
* At least 6 months of care experience working in a health or social care setting.
Knowledge and Awareness
* Confidentiality understanding of Information Governance.
* Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety.
* Knowledge of clinical patient observations.
* Willingness to undertake competencies supported by clinical skills training and education to gain theoretical underpinning knowledge in a range of clinical interventions and use of test equipment e.g. blood glucose monitors, venepuncture, cannulation etc.
* Knowledge and understanding of current healthcare issues.
