“Do you like a challenge? Would you like the opportunity to make a real difference to a person’s life? Can you cope with smelling bland? Do you have a full UK driving licence with 3 points or less?
If you answered yes to all these questions, this role may be the right fit for you.
My 37-year-old daughter with complex health needs would like to employ a female live in PA to help her live independently within her own two bedroomed bungalow. She requires support with all personal care tasks, mobility, preparation of food, maintaining a clean and tidy home, and to respond to seizures. My daughter has a power chair to use outside of the home and a wheelchair adapted vehicle that she would need you to drive.
Being reliable, proactive, being able to lead a conversation, and having a quick reaction when needed are essential qualities that she needs. Having a sense of humour and a positive outlook would be very helpful. Due to her seizures and pain levels, she needs PAs to be able to care for her without constant instruction once shadowing has finished. Therefore, you will be responsible for her health needs being met. The role is therefore quite cognitively challenging.
As a result of her health needs, it is important that you are a non-smoker/vaper. She also has a hypersensitivity to smells such as perfume, spray deodorant, hair products, and washing machine detergents and these products impact significantly on her health and well-being. PA’s have to use the products she provides initially. Thus, you need to be okay with smelling bland!
Previous live in carer experience for a person who has unpredictable needs is desirable. There will be a long period of shadowing the senior PA. A full UK or equivalent drivers’ licence with three or less points essential. If you are interested or would like to know more information, please email elansdell1967@gmail.com with a cover letter and CV.
A Rota of two weeks on then two weeks off with two rotating PAs required. This role can only be PAYE. An enhanced DBS check will need to be completed with this role and two good quality references will need to be provided evidencing your experience as a live-in PA. You in return will have a pay of between £950 to £1500pw depending on experience and the responsibility you are able to take, your own room, holiday pay, 2 hours daily break off site minimum and other on call down time on site.”
