Job Title: In-house Lawyer & Procurement Specialist
Location: London (Hybrid)
Reports To: Chief Legal Officer
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Shared Services team at Delta Capita (DC) working in our legal department.
As a member of the Legal Team, the successful candidate will work in a multi-faceted role supporting the business from a governance, commercial and compliance perspective as the DC business grows and executes its strategy. The role involves working across the firm’s business lines, global entities and support functions.
Your responsibilities will include assessing the current vendor policy, helping to negotiate contracts, and overseeing the implementation of a new procurement platform. This role requires someone who is not only legally savvy but also tech-aware, with the ability to integrate legal considerations into operational systems effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
* Vendor Management & Negotiation:
o Assist the Chief Legal Officer in managing and negotiating contracts with vendors and service providers.
o Review and draft vendor agreements, ensuring that they are aligned with business goals, legal requirements, and risk management considerations.
o Provide legal guidance on contract terms, pricing structures, and other key elements of vendor agreements.
o Negotiate favorable terms and conditions to minimise risks for the organisation while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
* Procurement Function Setup:
o Lead the project of setting up and implementing a structured procurement function within the company, working closely with various departments to ensure alignment with company goals.
o Develop and document vendor policies, procedures, and best practices for managing third-party relationships.
o Collaborate with key stakeholders across the company to design a comprehensive procurement process, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and transparency.
* Legal & Compliance Oversight:
o Ensure all vendor contracts and procurement activities are compliant with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
o Assess risk exposure in vendor relationships and provide recommendations to mitigate legal and business risks.
o Stay updated on relevant legal and industry changes related to procurement, vendor management, and contract law.
* Commercial Legal Support:
o Review and negotiate client contracts.
o Support onboarding with client and vendor due diligence.
o Support in RFPs.
o Support in reviewing and negotiating supplier contracts.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Newly qualified / corporate lawyer / in-house counsel.
* Experience / exposure to setting up a procurement function.
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee a complex initiative from inception to implementation.
* Tech-savvy, with a strong understanding of how technology can enhance legal and procurement processes (e.g., procurement platforms, contract management systems).
* Familiarity with legal tech tools, contract lifecycle management platforms, and procurement software (e.g., SAP Ariba, Oracle Procurement Cloud, Coupa or equivalent).
* Understanding of risk management, compliance, and regulatory frameworks related to procurement and vendor management.
* Ability to simplify complex legal matters for non-legal stakeholders and to provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
