We are excited to be offering a Level 2 Production Operative Apprenticeship, that blends hands-on experience with classroom learning to equip you with the skills to excel in a dynamic, high-tech manufacturing environment.
Successful candidates will set out on an 18 month journey leading you to become a highly skilled Production Operative, based at our iconic manufacturing site in the home of Cadbury, Bournville, where our collaborative team will help you to develop skills on the job through ongoing coaching and support.
What to Expect:
This is more than just an apprenticeship - it’s a journey to becoming a skilled Production Operative in the UK’s largest manufacturing sector. From learning how we wrap 1000 Creme Eggs a minute to implementing continuous improvement programmes, every day will bring new challenges and opportunities to grow.
As well as operating the machinery that produces the nation's favourite brands, you will be responsible for ensuring we meet all of our food quality standards and you will commit to maintaining a safe working environment for you and your colleagues. On a daily basis, this means regular quality checks and having daily safety conversations with the other members of your team.
You will be trained in the theoretical and practical aspects of Manufacturing Operations, relating processing, packaging and Logistics equipment used on site.
Duration: 15-18 months
Schedule: 4 days on the job training [Monday to Thursday 7am – 4pm (some flexibility required)] and 1 day (Fridays) virtual college (every 6 weeks face to face practical learning on site).
Upon completion of your apprenticeship, you will move to our 4 on 4 off shift pattern. All applicants would need to be able to work rotating days and nights post completion of apprenticeship (post 18 years of age).
You can expect to learn:
1. How to safely and optimally use a range of production and logistical equipment.
2. How to clean, inspect and lubricate equipment to maximise performance.
3. Relevant statutory, quality, environmental compliance procedures/systems, organisational and health and safety regulations relating to manufacturing operations.
4. Problem solving techniques and tools including Lean Six Sigma.
5. Autonomous maintenance techniques and application.
6. How to identify and deal appropriately with any risks, hazards, hazardous situations and problems that may occur within the manufacturing environment.
7. How to communicate effectively at all levels of the business.
8. How to use multiple operational management and reporting systems.
9. How to interpret performance data and take improvement actions.
10. Select and use appropriate tools, equipment and materials to clean and maintain equipment.
11. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

1. Minimum GCSE Maths and English – Grade 3 (or equivalent).
2. A passion for manufacturing, engineering and a knack for problem-solving.
3. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to learning.
4. Flexibility and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
