To ensure the continued delivery of high-quality care to patients within the trust and to contribute to the further development of the Gastroenterology service.
To further develop clinical knowledge and skills in Gastroenterology to aid preparation for working as a Gastroenterology consultant.
Clinical Responsibilities:
* To provide specialist care for Gastroenterology/Hepatology patients including, in-patients, in-reach/review of referrals, day unit treatments.
* Maintenance of the highest standards in the care of patients with Gastroenterology conditions.
* To provide rapid assessment of acute medical patients.
* To maintain effective communication and handover to the on-call team.
* Participate in the on-call rota on an equal basis with colleagues to ensure that appropriate emergency services are provided out-of-normal working hours.
* Ensuring ALS qualification is up to date and ability to lead a cardiac arrest.
* To be able to perform emergency procedures, such as lumbar puncture, ascitic drain and chest drains - training can be provided around procedural competencies if required.
Organisational Responsibilities:
* To provide support for the effective development of the service.
* To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
* To carry out responsibilities with due regard to the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
* To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard.
* To carry out annual performance reviews with each member of their staff.
* To attend all relevant management training in health and safety, risk assessment etc.
