Aspiring Psychologist - Mental Health Assistant
A rewarding position has become available for a Mental Health Support Worker to work in a school in Oxford. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience while making a significant difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
These students struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, and various other mood disorders. They need someone who can facilitate a positive and safe environment for them to learn and grow. The students are between the ages of 2 and 19, giving you the opportunity to work with students of all ages and backgrounds.
As a Mental Health Assistant, you will be directly involved in helping children manage and cope with their emotions and mental health. Your day-to-day duties will include:
1. Supporting and shadowing the class teacher.
2. Providing 1:1 support for SEN students.
3. Running engaging lessons to ensure the classroom is a fun and exciting place.
4. Implementing behavioral management strategies as needed.
The role would suit someone who is resilient and confident in supporting young people with challenging mental health needs. This is a great opportunity for aspiring psychologists, social workers, therapists, and counselors.
Experience working with vulnerable children is desirable but not essential. Those with a background in sports, art, or drama will also have an advantage. Graduates in a relevant field will also be considered.
