GSK’s Manufacturing Site at Ware has opportunities available for Engineering Technical Operator (ETO) in our Packing function (within out Respiratory Supply Chain – RSC - Value Stream).
Reporting to a Production Team Leader (PTL) you will be responsible for the set up and running of multiple Packing lines where pre-assembled devices are packaged to a quality standard resulting in a product pack (containing device, labels, leaflets, cartons, trays) which is ready for onward dispatch from the warehouse. This covers 80% of the role. In addition, the role has responsibility for most routine preventative mechanical maintenance and is the first point of contact for investigation/repairing most mechanical breakdowns. This covers 20% of the role.
The Packing unit operation has seen an increase in technical and IT (serialisation and coding) and mechanical changes to production lines (vision systems and automated triple packing). This has led to the area looking to increase their skill base with additional Engineering Technical Operators. The role consists of performing line running activities and meeting hourly and daily targets. Being first point of call for response to alarms and first round of trouble shooting.
Key Responsibilities:
• To work as a flexible and motivated member of a team.
• To follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and/or Standard Work (SW) applicable and in which the person has been trained.
• To act at all times in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), as defined in the Rules and Guidance for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Distributors (‘Orange Guide’) and to report any quality issues.
• To act in a safe manner at all times (in compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act, and all other relevant legislation), and to use GSK safety reporting systems to highlight potential hazards.
• To stay up-to-date with all training requirements (both ‘classroom’ courses and computer-based ‘myLearning’ activities) as identified in the job-holder’s training plan.
• To take part in ‘continuous improvement’ (CI) activities to highlight improvements to equipment and processes.
• To take part in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) processes.
SHIFT Pattern: This role operates on the DANF – 24/5 Days & Nights “Full” (12-hour) shift pattern.
About You:
The successful candidate will need to communicate and trouble-shoot routinely as well as looking to learn new skills. The role requires working closely with technicians on routine maintenance and shutdowns to enable self-management of their learning plans. You will be a self-motivated person who has experience of working in a complex manufacturing site. Ideally you will have strong understanding of the Packing lines (and related ancillary equipment) within the Ware manufacturing site (at a technical as well as operational level). It is imperative in this role that you demonstrate an ability to drive common-thinking, with a complete focus on providing solutions using problem solving techniques. You will be resilient and calm under pressure.
About Ware Manufacturing Site:
We are co-located with our R&D colleagues and recently opened a new, state-of-the-art oral solid dose facility at Ware. At this location our scientists, technicians and engineers (from R&D and Global Supply Chain – GSC) work collaboratively together (using the latest technologies) to rapidly knowledge transfer and deliver GSK’s most innovative, medicines faster and more efficiently. On site we produce over 60 million respiratory inhalers each year with growing demand in future years. The site also processes Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) for use both on site and other manufacturing sites in our network.
