As our Capital Projects Accountant, you will be the lead management accountant and finance business partner for capital projects across the Council and its subsidiaries. You will provide technical financial advice and support to Directors, Heads of Service and Project Managers on all aspects of capital budgets, capital expenditure and capital financing, ensuring compliance with Codes of Practice, legislation and capital regulations. Collaboration with Project Managers to robustly manage the projections and risks for the Council's capital programmes, including the Investment and Acquisitions Strategy, is key in this role. You will write and present regular reports to the Assets and Capital Board, setting out the capital budgets and forecasts. You will also support the Senior Financial Accountant (Capital) to co-ordinate the year-end information for the Statement of Accounts.
Special requirements for this post
Fully qualified CCAB accountant or part qualified, with at least 1 year experience in capital finance.
Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days working in the Borough, one of which must be a Monday or a Friday.
About you
To thrive in this role, you should be a fully or part-qualified accountant with significant experience in providing finance support to aid the management of capital projects, preferably within local government. Your ability to communicate complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders will be key, as will your technical knowledge and skills to provide challenge and guide project managers to enhance financial planning and management, as well as financial risks mitigations. Experience of capital UK and international accounting standards and regulatory capital accounting requirements is essential. Being resilient and ability to meet strict deadlines will be second nature to you, and your proactive approach will help tackle financial challenges head-on.
