We are currently seeking to hire a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team of experts in a dynamic and growing company that is driving the energy transition. This is a highly technical role in the organization in which the candidate will work across market sectors and departments as required.
Applicants who do not have experience in marine or offshore engineering but have experience with structural analysis are also invited to apply. Training in this sector will be provided.
What you will be doing.
As our Senior Structural Engineer, you will work on the following:
* Undertake Structural FEA Analysis of marine structures.
* Undertake structural engineering using first principles and a spreadsheet approach and undertake technical consultancy work as required.
* Develop existing and new technical competencies in alignment with the business needs.
* Perform day-to-day client management activities with existing clients through established relationships.
* Support and undertake tendering activities.
* Partake in activities to promote the business and develop new clients.
* Manage assigned projects in terms of safety, quality, schedule, and resources. Follow the requirements of the HSEQ management systems.
* Communicate resource needs to the office manager/director to deliver assigned projects to quality, cost, and schedule.
* Communicate directly with the customer.
* Undertake project planning, invoicing, and cash collection activities.
* Identify your own and the team’s training requirements to develop technical competence in accordance with the Company’s needs.
* Represent the interests of all Group companies to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in all business activities by complying with current revisions of all internal policies, procedures, and guidelines.
* Willing to travel to provide support to teams in other locations both within the UK and overseas.
The role is based in any of the UK locations (London, Southampton, Exeter, Newcastle, Dundee). The incumbent will have the right to work and reside in the United Kingdom.
What we are looking for.
We are looking for a driven and solution-oriented professional with sound technical skills and good decision-making capabilities. The successful candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills, strong leadership ability, and be able to deal effectively with multiple issues and assignments simultaneously. In addition, you will:
* Have achieved a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline relevant to the role.
* Possess 2-3 years of experience using Finite Element Analysis.
* Have a background in Naval Architecture, Marine or Civil Structure Engineering.
* Can select and apply the latest standards, guidelines, methods, and techniques to analytical methods.
* Are computer literate.
Desirable:
* Have achieved a master’s degree or equivalent in a technical subject relevant to the role.
* Are a full Member of a professional institution.
* Are a Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council or equivalent.
* Have experience in the marine and/or energy industry and experience with ship structures.
