About us Merton, Wandsworth and Richmond Councils have joined forces to form a unique Regulatory Services Partnership (RSP) that delivers a range of critical and statutory services that help keep Londoners safe. The RSP covers a diverse population and high-profile venues, including the All England Lawn Tennis Club (Wimbledon), AFC Wimbledon, Twickenham Rugby Stadium, the Battersea Power Station development, and New Covent Garden Market. The Trading Standards team is tackling issues such as the underage sales of prohibited goods; illicit tobacco, vapes, and alcohol; doorstep crime and rogue builders; letting agents; the cost-of-living crisis. About our ideal candidate We are looking for two experienced and highly professional Trading Standards Officers who can hit the ground running and deliver the whole range of consumer protection enforcement – including consumer complaints, business advice, inspections, project work, and formal legal action. You will be expected to manage your own caseload, undertake complex investigations, and act as a Lead Officer in allocated specialist area(s). You will work with other internal and external enforcement agencies on joint projects and operations. You will also be proficient in the use of IT, including premises databases and the Intelligence Database (IDB). You will hold a relevant professional qualification in Trading Standards. In addition to the above responsibilities, as a Principal Trading Standards Officer you will lead in the development of best practice policies and procedures, undertake the more contentious and complex investigations of regional or national significance, and represent the RSP at regional and national forums.
