The H&S Manager will be responsible for managing the Health, Safety, and Environmental aspects and processes by bringing existing functions together including occupational safety and health, environment management, employee welfare and well-being, and emergency planning. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and to ensure that company policies, procedures, and processes are aligned with legislation and are embedded and implemented at all levels across the business.In addition, this position is involved with the identification and communication of HS&E risks, and the development of business strategies to mitigate those risks. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide accurate and considered advice and guidance to NCP so that the company can ensure that a safe, compliant work environment is maintained for all employees and contractors in the business. Advise the Board on the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats related to HS&E that may arise from NCPs activities Establish and maintain a robust HSE Management System that covers all the elements of the role, and which provides detailed feedback on incidents that may occur within NCP.Liaise with other NCP departments such as procurement, L&D, and HR to ensure that HSE is woven into the fabric of the business rather than being a standalone element. Ensure that risk assessment as a technique becomes central to the way NCP manages HSE in the business.Review the current risk assessment library to filter and improve if necessary. Ensure proactive management of HSE issues at all levels of the business, from the people at the sharp end to the senior executives, by providing the systems that can generate, measure, and report the necessary metrics.It is critical that NCP responds, and is seen to respond, to critical incidents in a thorough and timely manner. Information management is key to this role, and to NCP, so ensuring compliance with all HSE rules, requirements, and programs should be part of this approach.In addition, mechanisms are required for making suggestions to improve the safety of the estate and personnel by means of robust and intuitive data-handling systems and recording and analysis of the subsequent CAPAs and responses. Review company performance in HSE and create and direct a robust improvement plan to address higher-risk issues that may have already arisen, or which are likely to arise in the future.Establish a culture where employees (but especially supervisory staff and managers) are comfortable and confident enough to carry out risk assessments and act on the conclusions. Carry out thorough and timely incident investigations, brief staff, managers, and directors on the outcomes, and mitigate the impacts by acting on the root causes. Participate in meetings, briefings, and conferences as appropriate, and lead on ESG issues and action.Act as the primary liaison in collaboration with Legal, Communications, CCC, and other departments regarding incidents that could jeopardize the integrity or reputation of the business. Keep abreast of applicable legislation and practices that impact company, ensuring compliance with any new or revised statutes. Develop and grow the wider HSE team across NCP, ensuring that sufficient, competent resources are provided across the portfolio.Coach and develop the team by serving as leadership coach and resource, while at the same time ensuring that they play to their strengths by using individuals as SMEs (subject matter experts) to provide specialist support if necessary.In addition, consider the introduction of SLAs (Service Level Agreements) between NCP and managed business clients to ensure that support and feedback is appropriate. Recommends new policies or procedures as necessary for compliance and continuous improvements, provide training to staff and employees to ensure that all recognize their contribution to improved HSE performance. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS A minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in industry with a focus on occupational health, safety, and environment and safety is a prerequisite.We require the incumbent to hold a NEBOSH Diploma OHS, Safety and Environmental Management. Comprehensive knowledge of UK legislation such as the Health and Safety at Work (1974) Act and all associates statutes, environmental management, and ISO Management Systems such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.A qualification related to asset or facilities management would be favourable. Sound knowledge of continuous improvement principles and practices, the Plan Do Check Act cycle, accident investigation, and the legislative landscape in the UK. Ability to multitask and work in a team oriented fast-paced environment, with excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation and facilitation skills that can be applied to all levels of the organization. NCP requires someone able to exercise excellent judgment, alongside solid problem-solving and decision- making skills.Competency in safety management and risk management programs is a prerequisite for the role.It is important that the individual has a robust approach to the subject matter, and has the ability to relate to people at all levels of the organisation.
