Main duties of the job
* Lead and develop the cancer nursing strategy across the Trust, focusing on compassionate care and operational improvements.
* Provide professional accountability for Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) and Cancer Support Workers (CSWs).
* Collaborate with operational leads and stakeholders across the Trust and wider region, and voluntary sector, to ensure efficient cancer pathways and service redesign.
* Drive initiatives like the Personalised Care and Support (PCS) and Personalised Stratified Follow-Up (PSFU) pathways.
* Serve as an expert clinical practitioner, dedicating 10% of your contracted hours to direct patient care.
* Work on continuous improvement projects including patient experience, resource management, and adherence to national cancer care standards.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current NMC Registration
* Degree at masters level (or working towards) in relevant health related subject
* Advanced Communication Skills training
* Post registration qualification in either haematology / oncology or palliative care
* Evidence of relevant training in leadership /coaching or mentoring
* Teaching qualification
Experience
* Substantial experience as a Senior Nurse within cancer and/or palliative care with the ability to demonstrate utilisation and facilitation of Evidence Based Practice
* Relevant experience of leading/managing groups of staff within and across directorates in an Acute Trust
* Demonstrate ability to evaluate services to improve service development
* Experience of change management and multidisciplinary project development
* Experience of undertaking audit and/ or research projects
* Experience of user involvement and evaluating quality of services
* Experience of working with staff across different healthcare sectors, primary care, educational and voluntary sector
* Ability to undertake supervision/mentorship to others
* Evidence of recent teaching experience
* Experience leading nurse recruitment and retention
