About the Role
As Podiatrist Senior Offender Health, you will be required to assess and treat patients within the HMP setting who qualify for Podiatry, determine clinical diagnosis and podiatry treatment indicated, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
Your Day to Day
Key Responsibilities:
* To manage own clinical caseload.
* To maintain professional standards.
* To comply with all PPH standards, policies, and procedures.
Clinical Responsibilities:
* To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work, including the management of patients in your care, ensuring a high standard of clinical care.
* To interpret and analyze clinical and non-clinical facts to form accurate diagnoses and prognoses in a wide range of highly complex conditions, recommending the best course of intervention and developing comprehensive discharge plans.
* To represent Premier externally (locally, regionally, and nationally) regarding services provided to patients.
* To undertake comprehensive assessments of patients, including those with complex presentations, using investigative and analytical skills, and to formulate individualized management and treatment plans.
* To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients and organize this effectively and efficiently regarding clinical priorities and time management.
* To demonstrate highly developed dexterity, coordination, and palpatory senses for assessment and manual treatment of patients.
* To provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching, and instruction to patients' relatives and carers to promote understanding of the aims of Premier and MSK Podiatry.
* To provide advice to other Podiatry colleagues and GPs.
* To provide specialist advice, teaching, and training to other members of the MDT as required.
* To communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximize rehabilitation potential and ensure understanding of their condition.
* To assess capacity, gain valid informed consent, and work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
* To be an active member of the company CPD programme unless exclusions apply in discussion with the Senior Operations Manager.
Professional Responsibilities:
* To maintain your clinical professional development (CPD) by keeping abreast of new trends and developments and incorporating them as necessary into your work.
* To actively participate in the CPD training programme by attending and delivering presentations and training sessions and by attending external courses and practicing reflective practice.
* To communicate effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure delivery of coordinated services.
* To participate in the staff appraisal scheme and Personal Development Plan (PDP).
* To measure and evaluate your work and current practices through Evidence-Based Practice projects, audits, and outcome measures.
* To demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management and apply it to your work situation.
Organizational Responsibilities:
* To be responsible for your area of work, as agreed with the Senior Operations Manager, and to plan and organize efficiently and effectively regarding patient management and time use.
* To decide priorities for patient management and ensure they remain in accordance with best clinical practices.
* To be responsible for equipment used in carrying out Podiatry duties and adhere to company policy, including competence in using equipment.
* To maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date documentation in line with legal and company requirements, communicating assessment and treatment results to appropriate bodies.
* To be actively involved in the monthly collection of appropriate data and statistics.
* To be aware of Health and Safety aspects of your work and implement any policies required to improve the safety of your work area.
* To comply with company policies and procedures and be involved in reviewing and updating them as appropriate.
* To undertake any other duties that might be considered appropriate by the Senior Operations Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Postgraduate qualifications.
* HCPC and SOCAP registered.
* Evidence of relevant experience within podiatry.
* Experience with advanced podiatry such as nail surgery and biomechanics.
