In order to support the continued growth in the Design function of our company an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Overhead Line Design Engineer to join our team.
This role will include aspects of design activities such as profiling, routing, load and strength, foundation design and conductor selection studies.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, we are looking for individuals that are not just technically competent but also keen problem solvers with an ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels. The role also includes project and programme planning, inter-disciplinary co-ordination and design process development.

Role specific responsibilities
The key duties and responsibilities include:
* Undertaking design studies to scope, time and to a high quality in line with currently applicable standards.
* Operating the full suite of Power Line Systems design software packages, and other applicable CAD packages.
* Project management of ancillary design processes to design deliverables for example, interfacing with draughtspersons, checking and approval of drawings and schedules etc.
* Exercising accountability and responsibility for design deliverables.
* The development of new design processes and tools to increase overall efficiency and quality improvements and to deliver novel engineering solutions.
* Interface with clients and manage and develop relationships.
* Mentoring and coaching junior engineers and other members of the design team.
* Planning and managing your own workload in line with client and business requirements.
Experience Required
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
* Minimum Degree qualification in a relevant discipline (for example Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering)
* Experience within a multi-disciplinary engineering /utility /DNO environment
* Ideally Chartered Engineer (e.g MICE, MIET, MIMechE) or equivalent relevant experience.
* Knowledge & understanding of the CDM Regulations and the role of the designer under these Regulations.
* Ideally a minimum of 5 years OHL engineering design services experience in transmission or distribution.
* Knowledge of OHL and related engineering specifications and standards including BS and ENA.
* Expertise in one or more OHL specific software packages (PLS-CADD / Tower / Pole).
* IT literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders across the industry.
* Pro-active in building knowledge and understanding of the electricity transmission and distribution industry.
