The opportunity
You will be at the forefront of welcoming and guiding our prospective students through the admissions process, ensuring they have a smooth and positive experience from their initial enquiry to enrolment. You will be a key point of contact, providing essential information on the application procedures while delivering excellent customer service across multiple communication channels, including face-to-face, phone, and email,. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring our applicants feel supported, informed, and confident in their decision to join Barnsley College.
You’ll be responsible for processing applications with accuracy and efficiency, ensuring compliance with college policies and external regulations. Liaising with academic departments, you will support the fair and timely assessment of applications, maintaining up-to-date records using the college’s student management system. Your role will also involve monitoring and recording interview outcomes, initial assessments, and other selection criteria to help ensure the right students are placed in the right courses. Additionally, you will oversee follow-ups with applicants to encourage engagement and completion of the admissions process.
Beyond the administrative aspects, you will actively contribute to student recruitment by coordinating and participating in key events such as open days, interview sessions, and enrolment activities., Your ability to engage and build rapport with our applicants, parents, and external partners will help strengthen relationships and enhance the college’s reputation as a top choice for education and training.

With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you will provide clear, professional guidance on application procedures. You will also be comfortable using student management systems, CRM tools, and other digital platforms to maintain accurate records and streamline the admissions process.

Required
• Level 3 qualification (or working willingness to work towards) in Business, Customer Service, or a related subject.
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above.
• 2+ years’ experience in a fast-paced office, managing operations and workloads.
• Skilled in recording accurate, timely data.
• Experience with creating detailed reports.
