About the Opportunity
Jacobs are recruiting for experienced Quality Engineers to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK.
This is a key role within our project and engineering portfolio which is spread across our UK network at all UK sites and stations. You will be supported and mentored by experienced quality engineering management professionals within Jacobs and given the training and opportunities you need to develop and expand your management and leadership skills with larger and more complex projects.
You will be part of a large client-led team at EDFs Dungeness B Power Station location and will be accountable to the client Project Manager, Programme Manager and/or Construction Manager.
Since 1983 Dungeness B has generated low carbon electricity for 38.2 million homes and was the first Advanced Gas-cooled Reactor to begin construction in the UK. The station is now at a new phase in its life - defueling and decommissioning. This involves the safe removal of all spent fuel from the reactor core, the cooling ponds and stores whilst looking ahead and preparing for deconstruction. At a time of nuclear resurgence working for Jacobs at Dungeness B offers a unique opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within an operational defueling environment whilst also looking ahead to future potential opportunities in nuclear new build or decommissioning and deconstruction.
1. Quality Engineers provide positive leadership on quality matters within portfolios and project delivery teams and promote the adoption and culture of best practice, that delivers positive commitment to quality and engages all employees in continuous improvement.
2. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the quality management system and to make recommendations for improvement as appropriate, to ensure project activities comply with relevant procedures and QA requirements. The Quality Engineer is accountable to the client PPM or equivalent Group Head, with functional responsibilities to the client Quality Lead.
3. Everyone working in our team will have a proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards and culture.
4. Strong communication and organisational skills are a must with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks and be results-focused tempered with a team-centred approach.
Here's What You'll Need:
5. HNC in a Technical Discipline or equivalent
6. Recognised BE EN ISO9001 Internal Auditor Training completed
7. Certification as IRCA Auditor/Lead Auditor
8. Demonstrated proficiency in auditing and surveillance of client and contractor activities
9. Should be aware of the Site Licence requirements on quality assurance and arrangements required to ensure compliance
10. Demonstrated proficiency in Quality Management standards and guidelines including the current versions of BS EN ISO09001
11. Working knowledge of the current versions of IAEA GC-R-3, BS EN ISO14001 & OHSAS 18001
12. Demonstrated proficiency in Quality Management practices, methods, and processes. This should include experience within Projects Quality Management, ideally within the Nuclear Industry or other similar regulated environments
