Continue to recruit increased numbers of expert patients and carers so that they can share their lived experience to enhance medical students learning. Provide training, guidance and support to the expert patients & carers who are participating in the medical students learning experience in old age psychiatry. Escalate any concerns or issues relating to the expert patients wellbeing or the impact of their mental ill health upon others, to a more senior member of the team. Co-ordinate with the expert patients and carers to deliver lived experience teaching. Develop new links with community statutory and voluntary services and work alongside Clinical educators and consultants to set up new student placements. Maintain positive working relationships through liaising and establishing feedback with those community services & resources. Provide support and mentorship to the expert patients and carers who actively participate in teaching. Collect and evaluate feedback from medical students, staff, expert patients, and carers with the teaching team. Provide written feedback reports on expert patient and carers teaching content and outcomes. Review teaching materials and provide written feedback from a lived experience perspective to present to the wider team for review. Contribute to data collection and analysis for audit and research to improve the quality of teaching as a part of academic governance. Co-facilitate simulation training along with the medical tutors/ clinical educators. Follow processes and protocols that seek to preserve the well-being and ensure the safety of the expert patients and carers who contribute to our work.
