The company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Ecologist to lead the Cardiff team. In this pivotal role, the successful candidate will oversee a variety of ecological projects, from Preliminary Ecology Appraisals to Mitigation Strategies, while providing expert advice and driving business development initiatives. Strong skills in scoping, designing, and leading ecological surveys will be crucial, as well as the ability to build strong relationships with clients to enhance the site portfolio. The role will also involve mentoring and developing the Welsh ecology team to nurture the next generation of ecologists. Candidates can expect diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
To be considered for this role you will have:
* Academic qualifications in ecology or biological sciences
* CIEEM membership, working towards Chartership
* In-depth understanding of the legislative and planning policy framework
* Excellent survey skills, including extended Phase I/UKHabs and specialized species surveys; Welsh Licences are desirable
* Experience liaising with clients, statutory bodies, and Local Planning Authorities (LPAs)
* Exceptional project management skills, with a focus on leading and mentoring
* Full UK driving licence
