An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Financial Management Team, providing financial advice, guidance and support to schools within the Wakefield district.
You will work with the Group Finance Manager in providing timely business-focused and professional advice and support on a range of financial management issues to the Council's senior managers, schools and budget holders, developing pragmatic solutions that focus on enabling service delivery and compliance with financial procedures and regulations.
We are looking for individuals with a strong accounting knowledge, the ability to interpret and analyse complex legislation, and a robust understanding of financial processes and procedures, which are needed to provide support, advice and guidance to the Council and maintained schools (and academies).
The role will also involve attendance at meetings with senior officers, elected members, key partners and schools where you will represent the Council in respect of all financial management issues. In addition, you may be required to deputise for the Group Finance Manager when needed.
The successful applicant will possess excellent communication skills and be able to work both independently and as part of a wider team. This role will also involve management of staff, so strong leadership and management skills are essential.
