Kibble is Scotland’s specialist provider of services for at risk children and young people. By providing a range of integrated services, we help build positive futures for children and young people aged 5 plus, with complex social, emotional and educational needs.
Job Purpose
We are seeking to recruit a Service Manager to be responsible for the running of a designated service. This will include the management of staff and other resources to ensure the best possible environment and care for our children and young people.
The post holder must be a proactive and forward-thinking practitioner with a focus on delivering a high-quality service through strong leadership and employee engagement.
Main Duties
The Service Manager will be responsible for:
* Managing the house rota;
* Authorising annual leave, approving training requests and managing absence;
* Ensuring new staff receive an appropriate induction and development opportunities;
* Managing and maintaining house budgets;
* Proof reading professional reports;
* Working on the floor to role model trauma informed practice, being visible and providing leadership to the staff team;
* Driving, shaping and reinforcing a positive culture in line with organisational values;
* Having a good understanding of all children and young people’s care plans within the service;
* Ensuring the environment is safe, welcoming and homely;
* Actively developing and maintaining links and partnership working with all other Kibble Services;
* Liaising with parents, families and other agencies involved in the care of the children and young people using the service, informing them of progress and decisions affecting the young person;
* Acting as a link between outside agencies involved in the young peoples' placement, for example, local authorities, psychological services, benefits agencies, housing associations and community resources.
* Maintaining appropriate systems and structures for the service including risk management to ensure high quality outcomes for the children and young people and the organisation.
* Deputising for the Operations Manager as necessary;
* Contributing to the development of the service to ensure that is continues to meet the needs of a changing client group;
* Assisting in the production of Service Development Plans and coordinating the personal and professional development of staff;
* Maintaining own continuing professional development, both through opportunities offered by Kibble and by using own resources and initiative;
* Ensuring that staff awareness of Health and Safety rules and regulations is always maintained;
* Undertaking any other reasonable duties as may be delegated by Kibble's management from time to time
Key Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Possession of or working towards Introduction to Social Pedagogy or/SVQ4 or equivalent SCQF Level 8/9 qualification.
* Three years experience of working with children or young people in residential/day care.
* Ability to build trusting relationships with children, young people and staff;
* Strong emotional resilience and the ability to cope with competing demands;
* Ability to represent the organisation professionally with external agencies, including representation at all appropriate meetings;
* Experience of motivating and leading others and providing support and guidance to staff or peers;
* Strong IT literacy with a good understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
* Possess a full driving licence, and be willing and able to drive school transport
* Possess current membership of the SSSC
* Able to evidence a commitment to Continuing Professional Development and to provide an up to date PRTL record.

3. The successful candidate will be subject to PVG Scheme Membership. Having previous convictions will not automatically disbar you from working at Kibble (with the exception of offences against children or other vulnerable groups) and every case is taken on an individual basis.
4. The successful candidate will be required to undertake Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training and will require a level of fitness to be able to carry out SCM. The successful candidate must be able to participate fully in this training and be prepared to put this training into practice.
The SCM training will consist of two days theory and two days physical training. The successful candidate must complete this training in full within four weeks of an agreed start date. Should the candidate for any reason fail any aspect of the SCM training (theory, physical or both parts), an additional two weeks will be given to pass.
1. Appointments will be subject to a twelve-month probationary period.
