Position: Data Scientist
Location: Desford
Contract: Twelve-month contract
Onsite Requirement: 3 days onsite minimum currently, may increase to 5 days
Requirement: Tableau or Power BI & Python, R, or SQL
Any manufacturing experience would be transferable. Would consider most industries providing they have the correct experience and skillset.
We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. This role requires a high level of energy, expertise, and a passion for innovation. As a Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in researching, developing, and delivering cutting-edge analytical and reporting solutions for a broad range of applications within the Purchasing department.
Your contributions will help shape the future direction of the department, ensuring the availability of detailed and accurate data and reports. These resources will empower the Purchasing team to make data-driven decisions, address pressing business challenges, and enhance overall efficiency.
This is a critical position within the team, supporting the procurement of essential materials and services necessary for the facility's effective operation. Your work will be instrumental in driving the success of our operations and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
What You Will Do:
* Provide and maintain visually insightful live dashboards and reports along with continuously seeking to improve/create processes where needed to be used by the team.
* Create, clean, and analyse datasets using safe reliable data capture methods where needed using tools such as PowerApps.
* Collaborate with Purchasing and cross-functional team members to understand customer requirements, ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate data solutions.
* Extract information from internal systems using SQL or EDFL to push information into Power BI.
* Ensure projects are as lean as possible to ensure maximum transactional lean savings.
* Create and format data structures within safe databases and/or internal systems such as SharePoint and Snowflake.
* Use techniques and coding within power query such as append tables, create joins etc to ensure as much data cleansing and data formatting is completed to ease processing time within power BI.
* Incorporate several types of Dax formulas within power BI to enhance & measure the data to meet customer requirements.
* Continuously enhance data collection, storage, and analysis methods.
* Document and train team members in the use of new tools and reports, ability to convey complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders.
* Stay updated on emerging trends.
What You Will Have:
* Proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, or SQL.
* Strong understanding of statistical analysis and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
* Highly competent user of PowerApps, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office packages.
* Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Top Candidate Will Also Have some of the following skills/experience:
Qualifications:
* Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or related field.
* Experience in a similar role or a strong portfolio of data science projects.
