HC-One are on a mission to be the first-choice care home provider for Residents and colleagues in each of the communities we serve. Kindness is our guiding ethos and we have ambitious plans for the future that we would like to involve you in, playing a crucial part in making them a reality.
To support the business in achieving this, we aim to provide a first-class and comprehensive payroll service for all designated colleagues.
While previous experience working in a Payroll environment would be beneficial, training and support will be provided, so it’s more about us finding the right person to join our friendly team as a Payroll Administrator. The work can vary daily depending on the specific needs of the payroll at that time; it is busy and fast-paced, so you’ll need to be flexible and able to think for yourself, though you’ll definitely be a team player.
Please note that whilst this role will be a Hybrid role, you will be required to attend the Darlington Office until all training is complete.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
* Receive and check information sent from the Homes and Head Office thoroughly and precisely;
* Process payrolls to tight deadlines as applied by the Group Payroll Manager;
* Maintain all relevant payroll files in an orderly manner and archive as and when required;
* Make any necessary deductions from colleagues' salary payments, ensuring the correct authorisations have been obtained from the Home/Head Office colleague;
* Support the creation of or produce spreadsheets, reports, etc. as and when required;
* Carry out specific Payroll project-related work, as and when required;
* Reconcile records and complete forms for statutory returns and submissions;
* Ensure that queries are dealt with efficiently and precisely;
* Ensure that the Payroll Department is maintained in a professional, tidy, and organised manner at all times;
* Assist with any other reasonable accounting duty, in either Payroll or another Finance department, as and when required;
* Various other ad hoc duties as required to assist colleagues in the support of all financial dealings with internal and external stakeholders, i.e., banks, auditors, shareholders, care home staff.
The required qualities and experience we’re looking for include:
* Experience of working in a financial environment, preferably for a large organisation;
* Ability to work to tight deadlines;
* Able to follow instructions and not afraid to ask questions;
* A good communicator with colleagues at all levels in an organisation;
* Able to work unsupervised as necessary;
* Comfortable working with computers;
* An understanding of the requirement for confidentiality regarding any information encountered in the course of your duties;
Preferred qualities and experience include:
* Previous experience of working in a payroll environment;
* Experience of working in a busy office environment;
* An understanding of the common terminology used in Payroll e.g., P45, RTI;
* An understanding of statutory payments e.g., SSP;
* Understanding the Payroll Gross to Net process;
* Experience of creating and working with spreadsheets.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility; therefore, it is important that you are able to recognise the signs which may indicate possible abuse, harm, or neglect in its different forms and know what to do if there are any concerns. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training appropriate to their role and to undertake additional training in associated areas. You also have the ability to seek appropriate advice and report concerns, including escalation if action is not taken.
