CLINICAL RESPONSIBLITIES 1.1 Maintain high standards of nursing care and promote an environment suitable for the care of children, ensuring that all planned carefully reflects latest research developments. 1.2 To assess, develop, implement and evaluate family centred programmes of care in partnership with colleagues or senior staff and ultimately without direct supervision. 1.3 Actively participate in mentorship for junior staff and students and participate in clinical supervision. 1.4 Ensure child protection issues are acted upon promptly and appropriately. 1.5 Continuously develop the clinical role in order to be able to work independently, anticipate care needs of patients and actively manage their journey through the Trust. This includes being able to work independently or as part of a team in potentially stressful, distressing or emotional circumstances including life support and assessment 1.6 To extend and expand nursing roles within the nurses competence, and with appropriate training as guided by local and departmental policies and procedures. MANAGEMENT 2.1 Aim to promote high moral within the nursing team by good staff relationships and clear lines of communication. 2.2 Monitor effective use of resources, in collaboration with colleagues. 2.3 Maintain a safe working environment 2.4Organise and manage effectively designated area in liaison withBand 6 ambulatory care nurse. 2.5 Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records in accordance with the NMC and Trust guidelines 2.6 Record and report accidents /incidents to patients or staff in accordance to Trust guidelines and policy COMMUNICATION 3.1 To promote an effective communication system, both written and verbal, which ensures that a team approach to family centred care is encouraged and adopted. 3.2 Enter appropriate data into the EPR ( Meditech expanse ) in a timely manner and ensure all nurse led screens are completed 3.3 Participate in relevant departmental meetings and represent the department at Trust wide meetings when appropriate, disseminating information as appropriate. 3.4 Act in a way to promote confidentiality, dignity and trust of patients, parents, carers and other staff members. 3.5 To ensure accurate and confidential documentation is maintained in accordance with the NMC, Trust and departmental guidelines. TRAINING/EDUCATION/RESEARCH 4.1 To support the induction of new members of staff with a period of preceptorship and to participate in the mentorship of students and to supervise and teach others. 4.2Update personal knowledge and skills by attending and participating in study days, conferences and in-service training, including mandatory training sessionsto comply with trust and departmental requirements. Achieve personal training needs identified through a yearly personal professional review with your manager. 4.3 Participate in clinical supervision 4.4 Identify areas for research and contribute and participate in nursing and medical research programmes. 4.5 Disseminate information gained from research. 4.6 Participate in quality monitoring in conjunction with Trusts Clinical audit and department audits. OTHER DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES 5.1 Undertake any other duties as appropriate to the grade as delegated by the Senior Nurse 5.2 Comply with all Trust Policies including: - Promotion of Health and Safety in the workplace.
