The Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design and delivery of multi-utility networks, with a primary focus on electricity and secondary involvement in gas and water systems. The role involves managing the entire design lifecycle, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and seamless collaboration with stakeholders.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Health & Safety Compliance:
Design Development:
* Develop and review comprehensive designs for LV/HV electrical networks (11kV-33kV), integrating gas and water utilities as required.
* Conduct feasibility studies, load assessments, and detailed planning for utility networks.
* Utilize AutoCAD and other industry-standard tools to produce accurate schematics and layouts.
Regulatory Compliance:
* Ensure all designs align with Stark Works’ standards, G81 frameworks, and UK utility regulations.
* Manage the approval process with local authorities, DNOs, and IDNOs.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
* Work closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams to align designs with project goals.
* Provide expert guidance on technical challenges and innovative solutions.
Innovation and Quality:
* Drive advancements in design methodologies, incorporating sustainable and cost-effective practices.
* Conduct risk assessments and ensure all designs meet stringent quality standards.
* Participate in regular training/ learning activities to maintain and develop skills and knowledge.
* Adhere to all Stark policies, procedures and working practices.
* Ensure the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by what you do; use work equipment provided safely and co-operate with managers to provide safe systems of work.
