We are St Helens Borough Council
Located in the heart of the Northwest close to Liverpool, Manchester and Lancashire, St Helens is a modernising Council which is passionate and ambitious for the children and families we support, our communities and our workforce. As part of our transformation journey, we continue to build on our progress and put children firmly at the centre of our care. We can only do this because of our highly valued, skilled, and supported workforce.
About Staying Close:
Are you ready to welcome a new challenge in a “BRAND NEW” purpose-built development, specifically for young people making a journey from a children’s home to independence. As a staying close deputy manager, you are going to play a vital role in the development and in the promotion of independence to our care leavers who will be living in “trainer flats” You will be located on site and on hand to offer support and outreach to our young people who have reached an age where they can live independently and ready for learning new skills and gaining the experience of the adult world. You will be required to work closely with partners from housing, education, health, community, and families, this is a fantastic opportunity to start a service from new and to shape it in the way our children/young people need it to be. You will form part of a new staff team, there will be plenty of opportunity to attend training and development, this will be an exciting journey for you and there will be plenty of scope for further development.
As Deputy Manager, you will of course be required to undertake daily admin tasks ranging from Rota/absence management and oversight, conduct staff 1-1 supervisions and appraisals and to participate in team meetings and care planning reviews. You will also be required to assist the Registered Manager in completing weekly and monthly reports and updating support plans. There will be an on-call rota in place, and you may be required to form part of the out of hours management team to enhance the support for staff and young people. You will be supported by an experienced Registered Manager; you will receive monthly supervisions and annual appraisals. The manager will be on hand to support you through your journey with us.
What we need from you:
We need you to be focused on working as a team on promoting independence. As corporate parents, you will be on hand for emotional support as well as an advice giver. You will be required to work shifts on a rolling rota, the shift pattern is 2 on 3 off.
