We’re re-energising our Democratic Services Team here at Waverley and have an exciting new post of Executive and Scrutiny Advisor. You will have demonstrable experience in a local authority democratic services role, including experience of clerking/supporting the Executive, undertaking research and report writing for Overview & Scrutiny Committees and organising the Forward Plan.
You will:
1. Operationally deliver Executive Briefing meetings and take a lead role on Overview and Scrutiny Committee meetings.
2. Deliver the Forward Plan process.
3. Provide constitutional and administrative advice to internal and external meetings.
4. Grow and develop our use of the Modern.gov system.
We’re looking for:
1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an understanding of working within a political environment.
2. A pro-active, dynamic, inspiring officer who can help us do things better.
3. Someone self-motivated and able to demonstrate how you have delivered improvements in governance elsewhere.
4. Flexibility about which meetings you cover, mostly in the evenings.
5. Ability to work well independently and as a supportive team member.
6. Adaptability to tasks and willingness to learn.
7. A seasoned user of the Modern.gov Committee Management System.
8. Demonstrable confidence to make process improvement suggestions where necessary.
Agile Working:
This is a hybrid role with attendance expected at evening meetings in Godalming, Surrey.
This is a politically restricted role.
