Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to recruit a motivated, organised and dedicated Band 2 receptionist / clerk for the Pre-Operative Assessment (POA) department in Westmorland General Hospital. This post plays a key role in receiving and welcoming patients and visitors to the POA department while also handling all telephone enquiries for that POA, and sometimes for all POA sites. The role will support the nursing team with clerical duties to ensure the smooth running of the department, providing a high patient satisfaction experience.
Main duties of the job
* Acting as the receptionist / clerical worker for a busy POA department in Westmorland General Hospital.
* Working with the receptionists / clerical workers from the other 2 sites to ensure all visitors / patients are welcomed to POA and all phone calls are dealt with efficiently and timely.
* Helping with the smooth running of WGH POA by providing clerical duties for the nurses and CSW at WGH, while ensuring patients are kept up to date with waiting times and any delays on a daily basis.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Providing an efficient and friendly, professional and welcoming reception service, offering advice and information to all visitors and callers to POA.
* Receiving and responding to telephone calls and queries for the POA department including other sites.
* Supporting the POA Service Co-ordinator with contacting patients to book / amend / cancel appointments as required.
* Finding, checking and entering data and confidential information onto the hospital system.
* Using Lorenzo to arrive and depart patients to and from clinics on a daily basis, ensuring all clinics are completely cashed up from the previous day and raising any issues with the Service Co-ordinator.
* General administration and clerical duties as required.
Person specification
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent to include English Language and Maths.
* Keyboard skills and computer literate.
* Relevant experience within an administration and clerical field.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word / Excel processing skills.
* Excellent communication skills (written / verbal / listening).
* Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff.
* Self-motivated, organised, enthusiastic, innovative, and flexible.
* Ability to comply with Trust policies and procedures.
* Ability to form and develop effective working relationships.
* NVQ 2 equivalent in Customer Care.
* Previous experience of Lorenzo or equivalent PAS.
