Job Description Overview We are looking for a compassionate and skilled SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEN in a Primary School in Hornchurch, Havering. The role involves providing support to students with autism, ADHD, or other learning and behavioural needs, ensuring they have access to an inclusive and supportive educational environment. Responsibilities SEN Teaching Assistants are tasked with the following: Assist in the development and implementation of education health care plans (EHCPs) for students with special needs Provide one-on-one support to students, helping them to effectively access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities Support the teacher in delivering tailored learning activities and promoting positive behaviour management techniques Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that all students feel valued and supported Establish and maintain effective communication with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals Promote social and emotional development through structured activities and interventions Requirements Any potential SEN Teaching Assistants must meet the following criteria: You must have an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or be willing to pay for a new one (£52.20) Experience working with students with autism, ADHD, or other special educational needs Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and knowledge of school behaviour policies Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents A patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to remain calm and focused in challenging situations Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support or education would be beneficial Hours & Pay Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 3:30pm (Monday-Friday) £85-95 per day Weekly pay (£425-475 per week) Temporary to Permanent – permanent contract available after you have completed 12 academic weeks
