Growing Green traineeship
Passionate about plants and spending time outdoors? Interested in a hands-on apprenticeship with the Haigh Hall horticulture team?
Our Growing Green training programme will run from 12th May to 11th July 2025 to help give people an insight into a career in horticulture.
You will develop gardening and horticulture skills and gain valuable hands-on experience with the Haigh Hall horticulture team. The training will help you to prepare and apply for jobs at the Council and beyond, including our Growing Green Apprenticeships.
Haigh Hall and the surrounding estate is undergoing an exciting multi-million-pound restoration programme. The Growing Green Apprenticeships will play an important role in helping to turn Haigh Hall into a world class destination.
The programme includes:
* Level 1 Award in Practical Horticulture Skills
* Health and Safety Level 1 certificate
* Employment, career planning skills and practice interviews
* Work placements on the Haigh Hall estate
* Additional support on next steps, including a guaranteed interview and guidance for applying for apprenticeship vacancies at the end of the programme
* Support with English and Maths (if needed)
Participants must be available to attend 3 days per week from 12th May until 11th July. Attendance will be Monday, Wednesday and either Tuesday or Thursday. The programme will be delivered at Wigan & Leigh College (Wigan Campus) and Haigh Hall.
