OUR WORKSHOP
Our historic workshop, which was recently placed in the centre of the first floor behind a glass screen, is nationally renowned, and has been the subject of many features in the trade and consumer media. It is well-equipped, and includes laser-welding, polishing, 3D printing and plating facilities.
OUR VACANCY
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Bench Jeweller and Workshop Manager to oversee daily operations, manage resources and support the team in delivering high-quality work.
The successful candidate will become a valued member of the management team and will possess a high level of goldsmithing skills which will lead the activities of this busy workshop, which range from customer repairs through bespoke commissions to restoration of the finest Antique jewellery.
Responsibilities
1. Perform complex jewellery manufacturing tasks, including client repairs, re-sizing, gemstone setting, bespoke designs and re-modelling of vintage pieces
2. With the assistance of a workshop operations clerk, adhere to a strict schedule of client and company work, meet all production deadlines and document works costing, ensuring adherence to best practice and high quality standards
3. Provide technical expertise and advice to staff and clients on jewellery-related queries
4. Maintain a clean and organised workshop and oversee the upkeep of equipment
5. Represent the workshop during company evening and day-time events
6. Foster a positive and collaborative environment, promoting growth and skill development within the team
7. You will be accountable for maintaining the highest productivity and quality standards in the workshop
Skills
8. Advanced technical craftsmanship with a focus on detail and precision
9. Strong people skills
10. Ability to plan and manage the smooth running of the workshop
11. Comprehensive experience of modern jewellery-making tools and techniques
12. Effective collaboration and communication with Ogdens staff including senior management
Requirements
13. Minimum 5 years of hands-on jewellery workshop experience with photographed examples of previous work
14. Proven expertise in advanced goldsmithing techniques, including complex bespoke designs and/or re-modelling of antique and vintage pieces
15. Familiarity with precision tools such as laser welders
16. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards
17. Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and training others
18. A positive and proactive approach to supporting team and company goals
