This role is perfect for those looking to gain valuable classroom experience and support students with additional educational needs. Job Summary: As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with faculty members to support teaching efforts in a primary or secondary school setting. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with lesson preparation, providing support to students, and helping with classroom management. Key Responsibilities for SEN Teaching Assistant: Assist in the preparation and delivery of lessons under the guidance of the subject teacher. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEN, including those with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and other needs. Create and maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Help the teacher assess student progress and maintain records of achievement. Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development. Support the school’s behaviour management policies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment. Assist with maintaining classroom discipline and engaging students in learning activities. Essential Requirements for a Successful SEN Teaching Assistant: Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant. Passion for working with children with special educational needs. A degree in Education or a relevant subject area is preferred but not essential. Adaptability and eagerness to learn and grow professionally. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Enthusiasm, patience, and a genuine passion for education. Ability to adapt to varying classroom dynamics and educational settings. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. An up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
