Role Overview: This position combines the responsibilities of an Application Engineer and Service Technician. As part of a growth strategy, you will support an assigned group of customers, providing technical expertise for pre- and post-sales activities. The role requires hands-on technical skills alongside the ability to develop strong client relationships, optimize processes, and drive customer satisfaction. It’s ideal for a service engineer looking to step into a broader applications and consultative role. Key Responsibilities: Pre-Sales Application Support: Collaborate with Sales Account Managers to provide technical expertise during the sales process, ensuring the correct tools and solutions are specified to meet customer needs. Conduct customer site assessments to understand requirements and recommend tailored tooling solutions, including smart tooling, assembly systems, and torque tools. Deliver product demonstrations and provide technical input for proposals and quotations. Post-Sales Service and Support: Install, commission, and configure tools, systems, and collaborative robots (cobots) on customer sites. Conduct on-site service, calibration, and preventive maintenance of power tools, torque tools, and assembly systems to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults on tools and associated equipment. Perform repairs and upgrades as required, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to customer operations. Train end-users on the proper operation, maintenance, and safety of installed tools and systems. Customer Relationship Management: Build strong, long-term relationships with assigned customers, acting as a trusted technical advisor. Provide regular follow-ups and support to ensure tools and systems are optimized for performance and reliability. Collaborate with internal teams to address customer needs, providing feedback for continuous improvement of solutions and services. Identify opportunities for additional products, services, or process improvements to enhance customer productivity. Process Optimization and Technical Expertise: Conduct process optimization projects, ensuring tooling solutions contribute to improved efficiency and cost savings for the customer. Support vibration risk management and health & safety compliance during all servicing and application tasks. Keep up to date with new technologies, tooling systems, and innovations to provide the latest solutions to customers. Travel and Site Coverage: Regular travel to customer sites across the Midlands and occasional travel to the company’s Wakefield location. Requirements: Previous experience in a Service Engineer, Application Engineer, or similar role within the tooling, mechanical engineering, or industrial solutions sector. Strong knowledge of torque tools, assembly systems, smart tooling, or mechanical tooling solutions. Mechanical engineering background with hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to build relationships, communicate effectively, and deliver excellent customer service. A proactive, consultative approach to identifying technical solutions and process improvements. Full UK driving license and willingness to travel regularly. Knowledge of tooling calibration, maintenance processes, and vibration risk management is desirable. Why Join Us?
